Job summary

Eastside Medical Center in Georgia is seeking a Histotechnician/Histotechnologist to cut, stain and prepare tissue samples for pathologists. You will prioritize testing procedures and complete them accurately and on time, while maintaining precise records in accordance with regulations.

No experience required for new graduates from an accredited histology program, or one year of technical experience in a surgical pathology lab; ASCP HT certification is required or eligible upon hire.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Recent graduate from an accredited histology program required or
• 1 year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory required
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory preferred
• HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification required or eligible
• Temporary classification as technologist/technician for 18 months to complete qualifying exam within 1-1/2 years

They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• No experience required Recent graduate from an accredited histology program Required or
• In lieu of degree One (1) year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
