Job summary

Eastside Medical Center in Georgia is seeking a Histotechnician/Histotechnologist to cut, stain and prepare tissue samples for pathologist review. This role supports accurate and timely testing to aid diagnosis.

You will prioritize procedures, complete them with precision, and maintain meticulous documentation in accordance with established policies and regulatory requirements. Experience is not required for recent graduates; ASCP certification or eligibility is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Work Experience: No experience required; recent graduate from accredited histology program required; or 1 year of technical experience in surgical pathology lab if no degree; 3 years experience preferred.

They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• No experience required Recent graduate from an accredited histology program Required or
• In lieu of degree One (1) year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. Upon Hire Required or
• A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
