Job summary

Mercy Hospital Of Bakersfield is seeking a Histotechnician to prepare human tissue for microscopic analysis by pathologists, including sectioning, staining, and slide preparation.

You will handle specimen processing, maintain quality control, manage supplies, and assist with administrative duties such as phone inquiries and cassettes labeling. Minimum requirements include 1 year clinical lab experience or 2 years histology training; California CPT I license is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year of clinical laboratory experience with instrument operation, specimen processing, or microbiology
• 2 years of histology lab training under direct supervision

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic analysis; section, stain and mount slides
• Maintain clean work area and instruments; handle supplies and reagents
• Perform administrative duties such as answering inquiries and tracking specimens and requisitions
• Verify patient information on requisitions and properly label and document specimens
