Responsibilities

• Embeds tissue samples in paraffin, identifying tissue type and components.
• Cuts tissue into ultra-thin sections; adjusts technique by tissue type.
• Performs routine, special and immunohistochemical staining procedures.
• Applies immunology principles to interpret test results and select protocols.
• Prepares tissue specimens for processing using physician orders.
• Correlates lab tests with disease processes and basic physiology.
• Performs, reviews, and documents quality control per policies.
• Evaluates data and investigates problems; takes corrective action as needed.
