Job summary

Duly Health and Care is seeking a Histology Technologist to support embedding, microtomy, and staining processes in a hospital laboratory setting. You will ensure specimens are prepared accurately for diagnostic evaluation, adhering to quality standards.

Ideal candidates have HT/HTL preferred credentials, ASCP certification, and a relevant degree. The role is on-site with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • HTL/HT preferred and ASCP–American Society for Clinical Pathology certification.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related discipline.
  • Foreign-educated candidates need credential evaluation (IERF).
  • US-educated candidates must provide an original transcript.

Responsibilities

  • Embed tissue with correct orientation per protocol.
  • Cut tissue blocks with high-quality microtomy.
  • Gross and dissect patient samples per established protocol.
  • Perform IHC staining with proper quality control.

Position Highlights
  • Full-Time, 40 hours/week
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, Day Shift, 7:30a Start Time
  • Location: Lockport

Technical Competency
  • Embedding tissue with correct orientation according to established protocol
  • Cutting tissue blocks with high quality microtomy
  • Grossing/dissecting patient samples with care according to the established protocol
  • Special Stains must be done manually with proper quality control performed
  • Performs IHC staining with proper quality control.
  • Basic troubleshooting of histology procedures
Clerical Components of the Histology Lab
  • Maintenance logs are filled out daily to ensure machines are working at optimal function and at the proper laboratory conditions
RL6 Investigation and Support
  • Effectively reports and investigates patient safety incidents, medical errors and potential risks in the facility
  • Assists with identification and implementation of corrective action where appropriate
  • Responsible for investigating issues such as turn-\u2011around-\u2011times with the lab, problems receiving supplies, patient issues and concerns, and will be responsible for forwarding these issues to the correct leadership
Education
  • Histology Technologist (HTL) preferred
  • Histology Laboratory Technician (HT) preferred
  • Issued by (Governing Body) ASCP – American Society for Clinical Pathology
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, allied health science or related discipline.
  • Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from the IERF (International Education Research Foundation).
  • United States educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript.
Experience
  • We accept new graduates from histology programs.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or reference laboratory a plus.
  • Certification preferred within 1 year of hire date.
Compensation

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $28-42, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
