Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Histotechnician/Histotechnologist to cut, stain and prepare tissue samples for the pathologist’s review. You will prioritize testing procedures and complete them accurately and timely, while maintaining proper records in accordance with policies and regulations.

Ideal candidates have either a GED and histology program completion or related surgical pathology lab experience.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• No experience required; recent graduate from an accredited histology program required or
• 1 year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory required
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory preferred
• HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician required

Responsibilities

• Cutting, staining and preparing tissue samples for the pathologist to review.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• No experience required Recent graduate from an accredited histology program Required or
• In lieu of degree One (1) year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. Upon Hire Required or
• A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
