Job summary

Piedmont Henry Hospital is seeking a Histotechnician/Histotechnologist to prepare tissue samples for pathologists. You will cut, stain, and ready specimens while prioritizing tests and ensuring timely completion.

The role requires ASCP HT certification (or eligibility), a histology program background, and compliance with records and regulatory standards. This is a patient‑focused lab position with growth opportunities within Piedmont.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Recent graduate from an accredited histology program.
• 1 year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory required.
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory preferred.
• HT - Histotechnologist certification (ASCP) required upon hire or eligible.
• 18-month temporary classification allowed to complete qualifying examination within 1-1/2 years.

Responsibilities

The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist is responsible for cutting, staining and preparing tissue samples for the pathologist to review. They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining proper accurate records of all tests done in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• No experience required Recent graduate from an accredited histology program Required or
• In lieu of degree One (1) year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
