Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Histotechnician/Histotechnologist to cut, stain and prepare tissue samples for the pathologist. You will prioritize testing procedures and complete them accurately and in a timely manner, while maintaining records in line with policies and regulations.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED and ASCP certification per state regulations. Experience levels range from new graduates to preferred 3 years in surgical pathology.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Recent graduate from an accredited histology program or 1 year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory required.
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory preferred.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• No experience required Recent graduate from an accredited histology program Required or
• In lieu of degree One (1) year of technical experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Required
• 3 years experience in a surgical pathology laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• HT - Histotechnologist - ASCP Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other acceptable agency, according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologist or technician for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
