Job Description

Are you someone who enjoys hands-on lab work and being part of a collaborative team? We’re looking for a Histology Research Associate to join us in supporting molecular pathology projects in a professional, team-focused environment.

In this role, you’ll assist with a variety of routine and specialized lab techniques, helping to process tissue samples, perform staining procedures, and support data collection. You’ll work alongside scientists, veterinary pathologists, and histotechnologists, contributing to meaningful research in a supportive and organized setting.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing tissue samples through trimming, embedding, sectioning (paraffin and frozen), and staining (H&E, special stains).
  • Assisting with molecular pathology techniques like IHC, RNAscope, and multiplex staining using automated platforms (Ventana, Leica) and manual processes.
  • Helping maintain and monitor lab equipment and ensuring proper archiving of pathology samples.
  • Supporting digital image analysis with tools like HALO or MATLAB, and helping compile quantitative data.
  • Working closely with anatomic pathologists to review image results and ensure quality standards.
  • Keeping accurate records and following lab best practices to keep everything running smoothly.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in biological sciences with 3-4 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree with 1-2 years of applicable experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in a research or pharmaceutical-based histology laborator

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Candidates are required to have extensive experience with histology techniques, including tissue processing and staining
  • Proficiency with scanning and digital pathology platforms is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
  • Superior written and oral communication skills are essential for this position

Additional Qualifications

  • ASCP certification (HT or HTL) is strongly preferred and may be a determining factor in the selection process

What to Expect in the Hiring Process:

  • 10-15 Minute Phone Interview with Region Recruiter
  • 45-60 Minute Virtual Interview with Manager and/or Group Leader
  • 30 Minute Virtual Interview with Site Director

Additional Details:

The position is full-time, first shift, Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Candidates must be flexible to adapt to schedule changes requiring shift changes and/or weekend work, and overtime may be required as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Boston, MA are encouraged to apply.
