Qualifications

• Minimum thirty (30) months of experience as histologic technician II.
• Associate Degree in Science.
• Histologic Technician Certificate OR Histologic Technologist Certificate
• Must meet requirements for Histologic Technician II per Pathology Chief.

Responsibilities

• Routinely performs difficult tasks related to fixation and processing of specimens.
• Cuts, prepares, and stains slides from histology specimens.
• Prepares immunohistochemistry stains and solutions.
• Supervises two or more employees; trains and reports on performance.
• Assist in validating new antibodies and stains using validation protocols.
• Maintain a working tissue bank of control materials for IHC and Special stains.
• Comply with regulatory agencies and maintain SOPs and safety training.
• Perform QC on all stained slides.
• Operates and evaluates equipment and reagent systems.
• Maintains equipment with documentation and reports repairs.
• Maintains logbooks, block and slide files.
• Keeps abreast of policies and immunohistochemistry updates.
• Writes and updates evaluation reports and procedures using NCCLS format.
• Train new employees and students as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
