Job summary

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. in Elmhurst, IL is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Assistant for the Histology department. You will input data, stock benches, and support histology technicians while maintaining VM systems and handling tissue samples.

This is a full-time on-site role with comprehensive day-one benefits. Responsibilities include preparing samples, packing for storage, and ensuring timely delivery to remote pathologists, plus administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Prior histology lab experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work the listed schedule.
• Comfort with fast-paced, high-volume lab work.
• Willingness to handle veterinary tissue samples and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Input sample information in the laboratory database.
• Stock benches with necessary materials for technicians.
• Run equipment to prep samples for histology staff.
• Pack samples for storage.
• Ensure timely delivery of casework to remote pathologists.
• Maintain and troubleshoot VM systems for remote viewing and analysis.
• Organize and archive VM cases.
• Track VM system errors.
• Troubleshoot VM systems with pathologists, labs, vendors, IT, and others.
• Assist with administrative tasks as needed.
