Job summary

Tempus in Chicago seeks a Histology Assistant to support precision medicine initiatives. You will maintain lab equipment, track workflows in the LIMS, and perform routine tissue processing with safety and diligence.

You will collaborate with the Lab team to meet sample turnaround times, handle routine maintenance, and restock work areas. A high school diploma or GED is required and CAP regulations knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Comfort with lab safety and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain laboratory equipment and records.
• Follow safety requirements of the laboratory.
• Perform routine workflows with minimal guidance.
• Reliably produce quality finished product.
• Utilize automated stainer, automated coverslipper, and tissue processor.
• Track work in a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Collaborate with Lab team to meet sample turnaround times.
• General lab maintenance and restocking of work areas.

Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.**What you’ll do:*** Maintain laboratory equipment and record maintenance regularly* Approach work with safety and diligence and follow safety requirements of the laboratory* Perform routine workflows without specific guidance* Reliably produce quality finished product* Utilize automated stainer, automated coverslipper , and tissue processor.* Track work completed using a custom Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)* Work collaboratively with other members of the Lab team to meet sample turnaround times* General lab maintenance and upkeep* Restock working areas**Qualifications:*** At least a High School degree or GED required* Laboratory knowledge of CAP regulations* Laboratory experience with laboratory SOPs and protocols* Laboratory comfort with laboratory safety and training* Demonstrates problem solving skills in the laboratory* Good communication and organization skills**Precautions:*** Job responsibilities include Xylene exposure. This exposure is monitored and kept within recommended guidelines. Individuals with respiratory conditions may need additional PPE.**Illinois Pay Rate:** $23.00/hour The expected salary range may vary for other locations. Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience.
