Albany Med Health System seeks a Histologist III to process, embed and stain tissue specimens for histopathology. The role operates under direct technical supervision and under general supervision of the pathology leadership, ensuring accurate preparation for examinations.

The successful candidate will meet NYSED requirements, hold an associate degree in histology or clinical laboratory technology, and hold or qualify for a histology provisional permit.

• Must meet NYSED requirements as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or certified Histology technician; NYSED provisional permit eligible.
• Associate's Degree from an approved clinical laboratory technician or histology program.
• Histologist provisional Permit.
• No experience required.
• Able to perform each essential duty per annual competency assessment; accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Pathology

The Histologist limited permit processes, embeds and stains tissue specimens in preparation for routine histopathological examination. This position requires the exercise of sound judgment and responsibility and works under the direct technical supervision of a senior histologist or technical specialist and under the general supervision of the director. This individual is responsible for keeping the surrounding area clean and organized.

Job Requirements

• Must meet all of the New York State Education Department requirements as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or certified Histology technician. Must be NYSED provisional permit eligible.
• Must have an Associate's Degree from an approved clinical laboratory technician or histology program.
• Histologist provisional Permit
• No experience required

Salary Range

$26.29/hr - $34.85/hr
