Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking a Histologic Technologist to prepare routine surgicals and autopsy tissues, perform cytology prep, histochemistry, and immunohistochemistry. The role includes processing, cutting, staining, coverslipping, and reporting with accuracy under supervision.

Requirements include HT(ASCP) Histotechnician certification or provisional, 1 year of histology experience, and ability to work independently within a fast-paced pathology lab in Georgia.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a Histologic Technologist.
• HT(ASCP)-Histotechnician or HT(ASCP)-P - Histotechnician - Provisional (1-1/2 Yrs) within 2 years.
• Preferred: histology training, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry skills.
• Must have integrity and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Embed processed surgical tissue with accuracy and quality.
• Verify specimen blocks match surgical grossing report.
• Cut and stain routine H&E slides with correct patient identifiers.
• Check reports match dictation and deliver to pathologist.
• Perform recuts, histochemistry, and immunohistochemistry stains.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and validate antibodies on new lots.
• Maintain QC documentation and equipment maintenance.
