Job summary

CalvertHealth is seeking a Laboratory supervisor to lead a section and provide coverage for the Lab Manager. You will produce accurate results in hematology, serology, chemistry, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology and other areas as designated.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or 3–5 years of related experience, plus ASCP/AMT/NCA or equivalent certification and 2–3 years of related experience. You will maintain unit competencies and mandatory learning per policy GA-057.

Responsibilities

• Provides first-line supervision of a laboratory section and covers for Lab Manager.
• Produces accurate results across hematology, serology, chemistry, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology and other designated areas.
• Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, instruments, and factors affecting test results.

Job description

• Assumes responsibility for first-line supervision of a section within the laboratory:
• Covers for Lab Manager
• Produce accurate results in hematology, serology, chemistry, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology and other areas as designated under the supervision of a medical technologist. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of techniques, principals and instruments and their inter-relationships as well as the physiological conditions affecting test results.
• Education:
• Position requires a bachelor's degree or 3-5 years equivalent combination of education and experience in related area.
• Registration/Certification/Licensure:
• ASCP, AMT, NCA or equivalent
• Experience:
• Position requires 2-3 years related experience.
• Other Requirements:
• Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
