Job summary

Cape Fear Community College seeks an instructor to provide classroom and laboratory instruction for student inmates within a correctional setting. You will prepare lesson plans, develop tests, and maintain records to support HiSET exam preparation across language arts, writing, social studies, math and science.

You will participate in curriculum development, attend faculty meetings, and help on committees while ensuring compliance with institutional policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Experience in instructional settings preferred.
• Correctional facility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students.
• Prepare lesson plans and schedule activities; develop materials to enhance lessons.
• Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; record scores.
• Participate in curriculum development and staff meetings.
• Maintain accurate attendance and performance records; manage required data.
• Stay current with developments and participate in staff development programs.
• Oversee policy implementation for the teaching area.
• Participate in college committees and institutional activities.
• Fill in for other instructors as needed.
• Assess relevancy of lessons; revise formats and select future texts.
• Support student progress toward graduation and program completion.
• Perform related duties as required.
