Job summary

Old Colony YMCA is seeking an Instructor for the OCC Community Justice Support Center to plan and deliver ASE curriculum, oversee HiSet testing, and maintain accurate participant records. The role emphasizes quality educational services and modeling core values such as honesty, respect, caring, and responsibility in all duties.

The instructor will administer TABE tests, assess participant abilities, place participants appropriately, and provide tutoring and FAFSA assistance when needed,

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred or Bachelor’s degree with two years’ related experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to helping participants complete HiSet with high-quality educational services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement ASE classes and individual goals.
  • Provide individual and classroom instruction as needed.
  • Administer TABE tests; score and maintain education records.
  • Complete educational assessments for new participants.
  • Assess abilities and assist in appropriate placement.
  • Provide a safe learning environment using motivational interviewing strategies.
  • Work with colleges/universities administering HiSet exams.
  • Register participants timely for HiSet exams.
  • Provide academic support and tutoring.
  • Assist with FAFSA applications when needed.
  • Verify participant’s high school diploma, GED, or HiSet.
  • Facilitate computer skills and keyboarding classes.
  • Lead financial and life skills groups as needed.
  • Documentation of urine screens when required.
