Traveling Superintendent

Los Lunas, NM

T2 has partnered with an established, high-volume commercial contractor seeking a Traveling Superintendent to provide hands‑on field leadership for projects based in and around Lunas, NM.

If you bring 10+ years of commercial construction leadership experience and are comfortable traveling for extended project assignments, we encourage you to apply.

Position Summary

The Traveling Superintendent is the on‑site leader responsible for keeping commercial construction projects moving safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the contract documents. This position directs daily field activity, coordinates subcontractors and vendors, manages inspections, monitors schedule performance, and maintains consistent communication with the Project Manager. The role also assists with cost awareness, documentation, quality control, and project closeout. Because assignments may be located outside the employee's home market, the successful candidate must be prepared to travel and remain at project locations for several consecutive weeks when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct day-to-day field operations for ground-up and large-scale commercial construction projects.
  • Organize site activities, manpower, deliveries, and trade coordination to maintain productive workflow.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and project schedules to confirm field execution matches project requirements.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and hold trade partners accountable for schedule, quality, safety, and scope compliance.
  • Inspect installed work and materials to identify deficiencies early and ensure corrective action is completed.
  • Coordinate required inspections with building officials, fire and health departments, public works agencies, owners, and other authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Monitor milestone dates and short-term schedules, communicating upcoming needs and potential delays to the project team.
  • Lead the process for final inspections, occupancy approvals, and other required project sign-offs.
  • Create, distribute, and drive completion of punch‑list items through final turnover.
  • Conduct weekly site safety meetings and reinforce safe work practices throughout the project.
  • Maintain a safe environment for employees, subcontractors, vendors, visitors, and customers while enforcing project safety expectations.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, or similar equipment when needed and properly certified.
  • Partner with the Project Manager on general‑condition costs, field‑related financial tracking, and change documentation.
  • Assist with closeout packages, including as‑built documents, warranties, operation manuals, and manufacturer information.
  • Complete clear and accurate daily reports by the end of each workday.
  • Coordinate vendors, equipment rentals, material deliveries, and other site resources.
  • Review field‑related submittals and verify approved information is communicated to the appropriate trades.
  • Coach field personnel and reinforce consistent standards for execution, quality, safety, and accountability.

  • Advanced ability to interpret plans, specifications, and submittals across architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Proven background overseeing daily site operations, subcontractor performance, inspections, safety, quality, and schedule commitments.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work effectively with owners, architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Working proficiency with construction management platforms used for daily logs, schedules, submittals, documentation, and reporting.
