Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide chairside assistance during dental treatment and assist Dentist and Dental Hygienist.
  • Greet patients and escort them to the appropriate operatory.
  • Prepares patient for examination and treatment, including bibs and instruments.
  • Maintains supplies and instruments in all dental operations.
  • Performs laboratory and x-ray tasks under supervision.
  • Sterilizes and disinfects instruments and surfaces in dental operations.
  • Takes and records medical and dental history and vital signs of patients.
  • Participates in dental events and outreach programs for patients.
  • Instructs and educates patients on best oral hygiene practices.
  • Provides post-operative care as prescribed by the dentist.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patients at all times.
  • Utilizes electronic dental and medical records to document patient information.
  • Must abide by policies set by OSHA, CDC and OSAP.
  • Be committed to learning and developing oneself in areas of clinical procedures, patient care, best and safest practices to ensure quality and improvement for the wellbeing of patients and self.
  • Demonstrates ability to be an unwavering team player.
  • Attends and participates in monthly and other staff meetings as requested.

Skills

Job description

The Dental Assistant reports directly to the Dental Director and performs patient care duties, laboratory duties, and clerical duties. Under direct supervision, the Dental assistant must demonstrate skills in the performance of dental procedures and in the use of dental equipment. The assistant is required to work at all dental sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
