Rochester Ecology Partners is hiring a Tree Ambassador Project Coordinator to help us launch an effort to bring attention to the benefits of trees in our city.

The Tree Ambassador Project Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the Tree Ambassador program, an effort to improve the city of Rochester’s tree canopy, educate community members about the benefits of trees, and cultivate a community around trees in the city of Rochester. The primary responsibility of the person hired into this position will be to develop and lead the project, manage a cohort of tree ambassadors, and coordinate activities with community partners.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Manage and oversee the schedule, assignments, and activities of Tree Ambassadors
• Coordinate and facilitate all Canopy Council meetings, including agenda preparation and stakeholder follow-up
• Proactively communicate with key stakeholders, community partners, and local government agencies
• Plan and manage logistics for tree plantings and community events, securing materials and supplies needed, community partners, and Tree Ambassador involvement
• Track, record, and report key metrics and outcomes of the Tree Ambassador program to share with Rochester Ecology Partners staff and community stakeholders
• Highlight program impact and maintain community awareness through a consistent social media presence, sharing stories, educational resources, and impact of the Tree Ambassadors and Urban Canopy Master Plan

• Familiar with the city of Rochester
• A genuine enthusiasm and passion for trees and a desire to share their benefits with others
• Familiarity or prior experience with trees and/or urban forestry
• A proven background in community engagement, public outreach, and public speaking
• Ability to make events and activities accessible for diverse audiences
• Experience coordinating meetings and outreach activities
• Ability to motivate a team and keep people engaged

Work Environment / Expectations

• 10-20 hours a month (with more possible)
• Weekend and evening hours required
• Position requires outdoor physical activity in all seasons for multiple hours at a time Working in multiple locations in the City of Rochester,
• Must consent to a background check

Compensation

• $20.00/ hr
