Job summary

Encompass Health Corporation is seeking a HIMS Technician to compile, process, and maintain patient records in line with healthcare standards. The role focuses on accuracy, completeness, and timely data entry to support post-acute care operations.

Qualifications

• RHIT certification is preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Graduate of accredited college or university.
• Medical Record Technology College or vocational school preferred.
• Minimum three years of hospital HIMS experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• One year data entry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains delinquent records and ensures accuracy of HIMS data.
• Monitors deficiencies and assures all IRF-PAI data elements are completed.
• Performs final check of medical records before designation complete.
• Abstracts discharge dates for PATCOM system for discharged inpatients.
• Performs data entry of PATCOM HIMS data with accuracy.
• Monitors and corrects errors on daily exception reports.
