Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a HIMS Technician to compile, process, and maintain patient records in compliance with healthcare standards. The ideal candidate will have RHIT preferred, strong medical terminology knowledge, and at least three years of hospital HIMS experience or equivalent, with data entry proficiency to support

Qualifications

• RHIT certification preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Graduate of accredited college or university.
• Minimum three years of hospital HIMS experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• One year data entry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains delinquent records at less than 50% of the average discharge rate.
• Monitors staff deficiencies and ensures that all IRF-PAI data elements are completed.
• Completes physician and staff deficiency checklist.
• Performs final check of medical records before designating records complete.
• Abstracts discharge date for PATCOM system for all discharged inpatients.
• Accurately completes data entry of all PATCOM HIMS data.
• Monitors and corrects errors on daily exception reports.
