Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Health Information Management (HIM) Tech II to process, analyze, and ensure medical records are complete within required time frames. This role is 100% remote and focuses on maintaining the integrity of electronic medical records through data analysis, review, and reporting.

Responsibilities include responding to requests for release of information, coordinating completion of patient records, and implementing process improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years prior relevant experience.
• Associate’s degree from an accredited Health Information Technology/Health Information Management program (relevant experience may be substituted).
• Current certification or eligibility to sit for RHIT or RHIA; certification must be obtained within six months from date of hire.

• Ensures the integrity of the electronic medical record through analysis and review, interacting with medical staff for audits and timely completion of records.
• Responds to requests for release of medical information for direct patient care from internal and external parties per guidelines.
• Coordinates completion of patient records and ensures appropriate chart information is present and secure missing information.
• Works with supervisor/manager to identify and solve problems, improve processes, and ensure timely data collection.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do: Record Analysis and Importing documents

The Health Information Management (HIM) Tech II will process, analyze, and ensure all medical records are complete within the required time frame. Will ensure the integrity of the electronic medical records through data analysis, review, and reporting. Will provide a timely response for requests of medical information according to departmental and hospital release of information guidelines. This position is 100% remote.

• Ensures the integrity of the electronic medical record through analysis and review. Interacts and communicates with medical and professional staff to assist with research, audits, and timely completion of medical records.
• Responds to requests for release of medical information for direct patient care from internal and external parties according to departmental and hospital guidelines.
• Coordinates completion of patient’s medical record and ensures appropriate chart information is present and takes appropriate steps to secure any missing information.
• Works with supervisor and/or manager to identify and solve problems, decrease any workflow restrictions, implement process improvements, and ensure timely completion of data collection.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need:

• 5+ years prior relevant experience
• Associate’s degree from an accredited Health Information Technology/Health Information Management program (Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education)
• Current certification or eligibility to sit for the national exam for Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by AHIMA. (If RHIT or RHIA eligible, certification must be obtained within six months from the date of hire).
