Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Health Information Management (HIM) Technician in Skokie, IL. The role focuses on converting paper records to electronic formats, indexing, quality reviews, and maintaining accurate patient information in electronic systems.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of medical record scanning/indexing, experience with Epic, and strong attention to detail in a fast-paced healthcare environment. OnBase experience is a plus; on-site parking is available.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of recent experience in medical record scanning and indexing.
  • Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare system, or HIM department preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical record documentation and healthcare document types.
  • Experience using Epic required.
  • Experience with OnBase desirable.
  • Strong computer and technical skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Reliable attendance history and strong references preferred.
  • High school diploma required and verifiable during onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Scan and upload medical records and other healthcare documents into electronic systems.
  • Accurately categorize and index patient records for organization and retrieval.
  • Review scanned documents for quality, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Verify document placement and maintain data integrity in electronic record systems.
  • Enter and validate patient and document information as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with HIM staff and other departments to support timelines.
  • Assist with backlog reduction efforts and department initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain scanning equipment; report issues when necessary.
