Grand River Health in Rifle, Colorado is seeking an HIMS Specialist to maintain accurate medical records in both electronic and paper formats, ensuring documentation supports quality patient care and regulatory compliance.

You will scan and index records, manage the MPI, handle PHI requests, and collaborate with departments to improve workflow while upholding HIPAA and privacy standards.

Formación

• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems required.
• Equivalent skills and demonstrated performance may substitute for years of experience.
• Experience with audits, compliance initiatives, and process improvement desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain medical records by reviewing, verifying, and organizing patient information according to policies.
• Accurately scan and index documents into the electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Maintain and update the master patient index (MPI).
• Input patient demographics, diagnoses, and treatment details with accuracy.
• Process PHI requests while adhering to privacy regulations and release policies.
• Collaborate with other departments to collect missing documentation for complete records.
• Prepare statistical reports on diagnoses, treatments, and hospital utilization.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and protect patient privacy at all times.
• Provide excellent customer service and foster strong working relationships within HIM.
• Assist with audits and training as needed.
