Job summary

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is seeking a Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist II for a full-time position with a Monday–Friday schedule from 11am to 7:30pm. Primary duties include reviewing discharge records for completeness, classifying records, and assigning responsibilities to the appropriate medical service and provider.

The role requires at least a high school diploma or GED, and 2 years of HIM experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of work experience in hospital HIM preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews discharge records for completeness.
• Classifies records and assigns responsibility to appropriate medical service and provider.
• Supports providers with deficiencies and monitors queues.
• Assists in suspension process and communications with providers.
• Answers requests for records and manages release of information.
