Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is seeking a Data Technician - HIM to enter patient medical records and insurance correspondence into the clinical database. You will generate reports that support Revenue Cycle/Finance, perform research, and handle administrative duties.

Responsibilities include following up on clinical appeals by phone or web, and pulling letters from payers to resolve denials, while collaborating with a small HIM team and advancing cross-training opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year experience in medical record operating procedures and systems.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in medical record correspondence, denial management or insurance claims.
• Knowledge of medical/psychiatric terminology and documentation requirement.
• Light typing and ability to operate PC for data entry/retrieval.
• Orientation to accuracy and detail, strong organizational and communication skills essential.
• Must be able to work with a variety of professional staff.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient medical record and insurance correspondence information into the clinical database.
• Provide reports that support Revenue Cycle/Finance, with research and administrative functions.
• Follow-up on clinical appeals by phone and/or web, and search archive database for determination letters from payers to resolve denials.
• Becomes a valued member of a small HIM team and support cross-training and skill development.
