Job summary

Perimeter Behavioral of West Memphis is seeking an experienced HIM Coordinator for a full-time position. You will manage health information/medical records, ensure compliance with state and federal laws, licensing rules, and Joint Commission standards, and support patient care with accurate documentation.

Responsibilities include retrieving and assembling records, monitoring transcription quality, releasing information, protecting confidentiality, and collaborating with departments to maintain

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, with equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience in health information management/ medical records and/or direct experience in a health care psychiatric facility preferred.

• Assemble charts for Director to code.
• Files transcribed reports daily.
• Monitor the quality of transcription services to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Refiles returned records daily.
• Shift patient charts in department as necessary to accommodate additional records.
• Answer phones in department and respond to requests.
• Pull records for other departments.
• Prepare records for release of information.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records, ensuring release of files to only authorized personnel.

Perimeter Behavioral of West Memphis has a great opportunity for an experienced full-time HIM Coordinator. We are seeking individuals who are committed to improving our patient’s lives by using a patient centered, collaborative approach to providing high quality of care.

The HIM Coordinator's responsibilities include the following:

Carrying out the activities of the Health Information/Medical Records department in the maintenance of all patient medical records information, ensuring compliance will all state and federal laws, rules/regulations of licensing agencies and within Joint Commission standards for the quality of patient care.

• Retrieves discharged patient records from floor on a daily basis
• Assembles charts for Director to code
• Files transcribed reports on a daily basis.
• Monitor the quality of the transcription services to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Refile returned records on a daily basis.
• Shift patient charts in department as necessary to accommodate additional records.
• Answers phone in department and responds to requests
• Pulls records for other departments
• Prepares records for release of information
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records, ensuring the release of files and/or records to only appropriate and authorized authorities.

Qualified candidates must have the following:

Education: High school diploma or GED and equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous experience in health information management/ medical records and/or direct experience in a health care psychiatric facility preferred.
