Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Northlake Behavioral Health System in Mandeville, LA, seeks a detail-oriented Health Information Department Supervisor to lead the HID team in daily operations. You will oversee medical records, ensure accuracy, manage release of information, and prepare for surveys while guiding staff through evolving workflows.
As a hands-on leader, you will map current paper processes, support an eventual EHR implementation, and promote compliance with regulatory requirements.
Health Information Department Supervisor
We treat all the people who need us. Not just the people who can afford us.
Northlake Behavioral Health System is a non-profit inpatient behavioral health hospital that cares for our patients regardless of their ability to pay because we believe that mental health care should be accessible to everyone.
This is a brand new, working supervisor position. Under the direction of the Director of Health Information, you will help lead the HID team while working alongside them every day.
You will help keep our records accurate, complete, organized, and moving. That means assembling, analyzing, filing, scanning, and processing medical records; tracking chart deficiencies; responding to requests; and stepping in wherever the department needs you.
You will also take ownership of work that requires experience and attention to detail, including:
Release of information
Subpoenas and court orders
Requests involving minors
Chart deficiencies and follow-up through resolution
Leadership reports
Record readiness for surveys and regulatory review
And you will help us prepare for what comes next.
We are a paper-chart hospital today, with all the volume and complexity that comes with it. An EHR is on our horizon, and this position will help map current workflows, inventory our records, and plan for how decades of paper records will be scanned, indexed, and organized.
It is a rare opportunity to help build a system instead of inheriting one.
You are meticulous. In this department, a misfiled page or a record released without valid authorization is not a small thing, and you understand why.
You are a motivated team player who sees what needs to be fixed and takes action. You do not wait to be told what needs attention, but you also understand the importance of following the right process.
You assess. You recommend. You implement.
You are comfortable with paper, embrace technology, detail-oriented by nature, and ready for what comes next.
