Job summary

Required: Associate degree in HIM (Bachelor’s preferred), and CCS/RHIT/RHIA with two years hospital coding experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HIM or related field is required; Bachelor’s preferred.
• CCS/RHIT/RHIA certification required; Epic certification preferred.
• Minimum two years of hospital coding and charge capture experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates compliance with policies and resolves compliance questions.
• Performs routine audits of inpatient/outpatient encounters and supports denials management.
• Validates diagnosis/procedure, ensures accurate DRG/HCPCS capture.
• Communicates with vendors, manages Epic work queues, and coordinates appeals.
• Reviews documentation for completeness and identifies gaps for queries.
• Applies coding/editing guidelines and supports 3M-360 initiatives.
• Interacts with HIM leadership and revenue cycle teams to optimize workflows.
• Supports California state reporting and regulatory submissions.
• Coordinates onboarding/offboarding of vendor staff and maintains AHIMA credentials.
