Commonwealth of Kentucky seeks a Woodford County Highway Technician Assistant I to support road maintenance operations in Versailles, KY. The role includes equipment operation, material hauling, and seasonal snow/ice duties, with classroom and hands-on training opportunities.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and relevant practical experience. This position requires outdoor work in varying weather and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Must be 18 years or older and possess a valid driver's license.
• Within 12 months of employment, furnish documentation of a valid Class B CDL.
• Within one year, complete First Aid and Snow/Ice Training and possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent.

Responsabilités

• Haul materials to and from job sites.
• Operate dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader during winter months.
• Operate a tractor-type mowing machine and assist in brush cutting.
• Use hand and power tools for maintenance activities; learn surveying basics.
• Flag for operations requiring traffic control.

By joining our Woodford County Unit as a Highway Technician Assistant I, you’ll have theopportunity to take advantage of classroom and in-field trainings to allow for continued education to becomespecialized in road and construction maintenance and operations.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Haul materials to and from job sites

• Use a variety of hand and power tools for maintenance activities, learn the basics of surveying.
• Flag for operations requiring traffic control.

• Experience preforming preventative maintenance on vehicles or equipment
• Experience with general labor or trades

Additional position information

Be able to lift 50 pounds, work on rough terrain, around various types of equipment, be able to twist, bend,stoop, stand. Should be able to work extended hours and in all weather elements.

Working Conditions

Incumbents in this job title typically perform their work at a highway maintenance facility or section office, at work sites throughout the assigned work area, and when necessary, district wide. Incumbent will be exposed to risks inherent to working with large equipment and machines involved with road construction. Must be able to work extended hours and be outside during inclement weather.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
