Job summary

The City of Woonsocket is seeking a Laborer for the Public Works Department, Highway & Parks Division in Woonsocket, RI. You will perform manual tasks in construction and street maintenance, digging and material handling, and operate air tools as needed.

A high school diploma or GED is required, with a valid driver’s license. Asphalt experience is preferable and union Local 670, RI Council 94 applies. 40 hours per week; salary range listed below.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or a GED equivalent, is required.
• Physical strength, thoroughness, willingness and ability to perform manual tasks, and some experience in heavy manual work.

Responsibilities

• Performs manual labor such as cleaning streets, spreading gravel and asphalt, patching holes in pavement, and loading materials by hand.
• Assists in mixing and pouring concrete and cleans up work sites.
• Operates light equipment occasionally and maintains parks and recreational areas.
