Qualifications

  • 1 year of road maintenance experience required for Worker II.

Job description

Highway Maintenance Worker I

Salary: $15.65 - $23.47 / Hour

Entry-level position performing maintenance on County roads and bridges. Responsibilities include semi-skilled tasks such as operating equipment, traffic control setup, and safe driving skills.

Highway Maintenance Worker II

Salary: $17.21 - $25.82 / Hour

Performs maintenance on County roads and bridges, involving semi-skilled tasks, equipment operation, traffic control, and requires possession and maintenance of a CDL.

Responsibilities for Highway Maintenance Worker I:
  • Assists with manual and mechanized patching of road surfaces.
  • Operates county trucks and weed mowers; conducts vehicle and equipment inspections.
  • Assists with concrete work, including pouring, forming, and finishing.
  • Carries out traffic control procedures.
  • Assists with installation of drainage structures, including culverts, and cleans culverts and surrounding areas.
  • Supports road maintenance tasks such as carpentry, fence installation, painting, tree trimming, grounds maintenance, refuge removal, and weed control.
  • Monitors and manages materials usage.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.
Responsibilities for Highway Maintenance Worker II:
  • Operates various equipment including weed mowers, dump trucks, water trucks, backhoes, and more; conducts safety inspections.
  • Performs manual and mechanized road patching.
  • Handles concrete work, traffic control, drainage installation, and cleaning.
  • Monitors materials usage.
  • Supports road maintenance activities including carpentry, fence installation, jackhammering, painting, erosion control, cattle guard replacement, tree trimming, grounds maintenance, refuge removal, and weed control.
  • Performs snowplowing, sanding, and bridge maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

Highway Maintenance Worker I: 6 months of road maintenance or construction experience (preferred).

Highway Maintenance Worker II: 1 year or more of road maintenance or construction experience (required). Possession of a Colorado Class A CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements (required).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
Special Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Successful background check and physical.
