Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Worker II (S) to maintain highways in Forsyth County. You will operate a range of highway maintenance equipment, install traffic control devices, and support emergency response activities during regular hours and on-call situations.

Required are a HS diploma or GED with three years of related equipment operation experience, strong safety knowledge, and the ability to communicate in English.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and three years of equipment operation experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Must be able to operate highway maintenance equipment and perform manual tasks.
• Ability to communicate in English and follow safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain highways in Forsyth County as part of the State Highway Division.
• Operate equipment such as patch trucks, dump trucks, sweepers, rollers, and skid steers.
• Respond to emergencies and perform night work as required; assist with traffic control and erosion control tasks.
