Job summary

Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) seeks a hands-on Maintenance Technician to join the Centerville team, performing general highway upkeep and operating heavy machinery such as snowplows and loaders.

This role offers a pathway from Technician I to II through UDOT's TEP program, with full-time employment and required background check and drug testing. CDL is required or can be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to perform physically demanding tasks
• CDL required or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire (UDOT provides training)
• Background check must be passed
• Pre-employment drug testing required
• Must maintain a smartphone data plan and be reachable for 24-hour operations

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance on state routes and drainage facilities to ensure longevity
• Operate heavy machinery including snowplows, salt spreaders, and blowers during winter operations
• Operate and perform basic maintenance on heavy equipment (front-end loaders, backhoes, graders)
• Use department software to track assets and document work by crews and contractors
• Manage roadside vegetation and perform herbicide applications
• Willingness to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
