Job summary

State of South Dakota Department of Transportation in Webster seeks a Highway Maintenance Worker to keep state highways safe and drivable. You will work in a crew performing roadway maintenance, roadside activities, and repairs on signs, markings, guardrails, and facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment used in road maintenance is preferred.
• Candidates should understand basic math for measurements and calculations.
• Familiarity with hand and power tools used in highway work is beneficial.
• Must be willing to obtain a CDL (Class A) within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway maintenance and related activities to keep state highways safe.
• Install/replace signs, traffic control devices, and pavement markings.
• Maintain and repair guardrails, facilities, and equipment; respond to emergencies.
• Operate equipment in all weather and traffic conditions; complete documentation.
