Job summary

Minnesota Department of Transportation in Minnesota is seeking an on-site roadside and roadway maintenance worker to perform maintenance, equipment service, and traffic control duties. This role involves supporting snow and ice operations, inspecting winter equipment, and conducting preseason inspections.

Candidates must have a valid CDL (A or B) with no air brake restriction, obtain a tanker endorsement before hire, and secure an A license within 6 months.

Qualifications

Job description

This position performs all activities required for roadside maintenance; performs all roadway surface maintenance activities; and service and make minor repairs to operating equipment. Othe duties include:

• Provide traffic control
• Perform basic construction monitoring duties and basic inspection activities
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and performs post storm cleanup
• Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing and de-icing chemicals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Valid Class A or B Driver’s License and no air brake restriction. Must obtain a Tanker Endorsement prior to hire. Must obtain a Class A License within 6 months of hire. Must maintain license throughout employment. Please list type of CDL (A or B) on resume.

Experience: One (1) year of experience performing activities in snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities (roadway maintenance, driving commercial vehicles, commercial landscaping, operating heavy equipment, or farm experience).

OR

Education: Successful completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (of at least 60 semester credits; or 90 quarter credits) will substitute for one year of experience.
