Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking a skilled Roadway Sign Maintenance Technician to install, maintain, and repair roadway signs and traffic control devices in assigned areas. The role requires operating a range of highway equipment and performing preventative maintenance.

The position features an annual salary range of $39,448 to $64,103 and requires a valid CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment, along with the ability to work in emergency snow and ice operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months and maintain thereafter.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience with work zone set-up and MUTCD regulations.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
• Skill in carpentry and tool operation.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Operations: Prepare and operate equipment for snow and ice removal or other emergency operations; provide traffic control.
• Operate and maintain light, medium and heavy-duty highway equipment for maintenance and construction tasks.
• Follow safety regulations (OSHA/VOSHA) and MUTCD for detours, lane closures, work zones, etc.; maintain a safe work environment.
• Sign Installation, Maintenance and Repair: install, repair, and track signs and posts; maintain inventory records.
• Traffic Control Devices: install and remove traffic control devices in work zones and detours; track inventory.
