Commonwealth of VA Careers in Virginia is seeking workers for roadway maintenance, emergency operations, and equipment handling. You will operate light to heavy highway equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and assist with snow removal and traffic control.

Responsibilities include safety compliance, reading plans, following instructions, and collaborating with a crew to complete projects. CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months are required.

Formación

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to obtain valid CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
• Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment, materials, methods, and procedures.
• Safety shoes required.
• Skill in the operation and maintenance of hand and power tools.
• Skill in the operation and maintenance of light, medium, and heavy duty equipment used for highway maintenance and repair.

Responsabilidades

• Emergency Operations: Operate and maintain light and medium-duty equipment to perform maintenance and construction tasks.
• Emergency Operations: Prepare and operate equipment for snow and ice removal or other emergency operations; clear roadways and provide traffic control.
• Equipment Operations: Operate and maintain highway equipment for maintenance and construction tasks.
• Job Safety: Enforce safe work practices, identify hazards, and use PPE; follow OSHA/VOSHA rules and MUTCD guidance.
• Manual Labor: Join crew to complete projects and perform maintenance tasks.
• Manual Labor: Use hand and power tools to perform assigned tasks.
• Preventative Maintenance: Conduct preventive maintenance and pre-trip inspections.
• Traffic Control Devices: Install, maintain and remove traffic control devices; track inventory.
