Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Snyder, TX is seeking an experienced Highway Maintenance Section Supervisor I to lead the Scurry County maintenance team and oversee road preservation and incident response. This role emphasizes safety, innovation, and driving excellence across the transportation network.

The position requires a High School diploma, 7 years of roadway maintenance experience, and a Commercial Driver License with an N endorsement.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
• Experience: 7 years roadway maintenance or construction-related work (full-time or prorated).
• Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications: related college education or training may be substituted year-for-year.
• Licenses: Must have a valid Commercial Class A Driver License with an N endorsement at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Administers and inspects contracted maintenance activities.
• Handles public complaints.
• Inspects road conditions, work-in-progress and work completed by crews and contractors.
• Plans, coordinates and implements emergency response to inclement weather, flooding, accidents and hazardous material spills.
• Plans, schedules and coordinates work project needs including personnel, equipment and material with the Area Engineer and district staff.
• Prepares and monitors the budget.
• Prioritizes and assigns projects; guides crews in planning and scheduling.
