Job summary

County of Kauaʻi seeks a Highway Maintenance Manager to lead county-wide highway maintenance, construction, and repair programs under the Department of Public Works Roads Administration. You will organize crews, coordinate with other divisions and agencies, and direct budgets and priorities for optimal safety and service.

The role requires a civil engineering background and at least four years of relevant experience, including two years of supervisory duties, with a strong focus on program

Qualifications

  • Combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in engineering or related field.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates county-wide highway maintenance and repair activities.
  • Formulates and directs policies, rules and regulations for Highway Maintenance.
  • Coordinates programs with other Public Works divisions and agencies.
  • Assists in preparing budget requests and program expenditure plans.
  • Establishes criteria for work priorities and reviews efficiency and safety of operations.
  • Confers with legislators and public officials on program goals and objectives.
  • Prepares reports and handles personnel issues while maintaining public relations.
