Job summary

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class B commercial driver’s license and may operate equipment.
• Position may require alternate work shifts (e.g., 9/80, 4/10, or night work).
• Eligibility by Caltrans Highway Maintenance Leadworker exam.
• Minimum Qualifications are per CALTRANS HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE LEADWORKER class specification.
• Drug screening is required prior to hire.
• Valid driver’s license is required when operating state-owned or leased vehicles.
• To be eligible if new to state civil service, you must be on the state examination list.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and work with a maintenance crew maintaining highways and related facilities.
• Incumbent may perform non-leadworker duties as part of their normal assignment.
• May be assigned to work alternate shifts; such as 9/80, 4/10 or night work.
• Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and in potentially hazardous conditions.
