South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled equipment operator for roadway maintenance and other related duties in South Carolina. The role includes operating heavy and medium equipment, performing manual labor, and ensuring safety during all tasks.

Responsibilities include vehicle inspections, traffic flagging, and assisting during emergencies or severe weather. A Class A CDL is required within six months, with potential extended shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Six months of related work experience or approved equivalent.
• A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of placement.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsabilités

• Operates tandem dump truck hauling materials, supplies and equipment to and from job sites; performs manual labor during roadway and right of way maintenance tasks.
• Operates front-end loader, backhoe and motor grader in maintenance activities.
• Flags traffic in low/high volume areas to protect workers, equipment and the public.
• Inspects equipment/vehicles before trips per fleet safety rules.
• Assists in after-hours emergencies and inclement weather operations; may work 12-hour shifts.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
