Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a crew leader for the Sumter Maintenance ditching crew. You will lead the team to repair and maintain ditches and shoulders, operating the ditcher and other heavy equipment in Sumter County.

You must have two years of related work experience and a valid driver’s license, with Class A CDL to be obtained within six months. You may be asked to work overtime, nights, and during emergencies in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience or equivalent.
• A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the ditching crew to repair and maintain ditches and shoulders in Sumter County.
• Operate ditcher, ditching tractor, backhoe and front end loader; assist in reports and cost records.
• Set up traffic control and supervise crew safety for work zones; respond to emergencies as needed.
