Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is hiring a Highway Maintenance Worker 2 to maintain and repair highways and structures across Washington State. The role supports safety, reliability, and economic activity by keeping the transportation system in good condition.

Responsibilities include operating maintenance equipment, performing repairs, installing safety features, and coordinating with crews.

Qualifications

• Proven highway maintenance experience in pavement repair and drainage.
• Valid Class A CDL with N endorsement and medical card.
• Operate Class A/B/C highway maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge of MUTCD traffic control and work zones.
• Strong safety awareness and PPE compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway equipment and repair asphalt/concrete pavement.
• Maintain guardrails, signs, and vegetation management.
• Respond to maintenance requests and ensure safe work zones.
• Lead or train crew as needed and coordinate tasks.
• Follow PASPs and safety procedures in all operations.
