Job summary

Quality Engineering Solutions, Inc. (QES) seeks a Transportation Construction Inspector 2 (TCI-2) to join our team.

The TCI-2 will monitor roadway, highway and bridge projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and regulatory requirements, while documenting daily field activities and progress. Ideal candidates will have PennDOT or NICET/NECEPT certifications or equivalent experience, plus strong inspection, reporting, and coordination skills to work with Clients Project Engineers

Qualifications

• Experience in field inspections of roadway/highway/bridge projects.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and standards.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills for daily field activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical inspections to ensure contractors comply with plans and specs.
• Quality assurance monitoring for materials testing ( soils, concrete, aggregates, bituminous).
• Comply with overtime requirements as required by PennDOT/Clients.
• Meet with Project Engineers/Managers to receive instructions and assignments.
• Complete project documentation: daily reports, cost estimates, activity records.

Job description

Quality Engineering Solutions, Inc. (QES) is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector 2 (TCI-2) to join our team. Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform technical inspections to ensure that contractors build a quality construction project. The TCI-2 will monitor and document that roadway, highway, and bridge projects are constructed in accordance with the pertinent plans and specifications.
• Quality assurance monitoring for materials testing, including but not limited to soils, concrete, aggregates, and bituminous products.
• Comply with the PA Turnpike, PennDOT and/or Client and project-specific overtime requirements.
• Meet with the Clients Project Engineer/ Manager/ Supervisor or Consultant Manager/ Supervisor daily, or as required, to receive instructions and assignments.
• Complete project documentation requirements: daily progress reports, periodic cost estimates, project work activities including records of labor, material, quantities, and equipment used.
• Perform periodic highway occupancy permit compliance and erosion and sedimentation controls compliance.
• Request from Manager/Supervisor assistance for any instruction or assignment in the inspection of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements and established standards.

Required Qualifications:

• One (1) year minimum PennDOT experience as a TCI-1 or higher, and has one (1) of the following three (3) certifications: PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification, NECEPT Field Technician Certification, or NICET Level I Certification or higher in Highway Construction.
• OR Two (2) years minimum of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience, and has one (1) of the following three (3) certifications: PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification, NECEPT Field Technician Certification, or NICET Level II Certification or higher in Highway Construction.
• OR Three (3) years minimum transportation, highway or bridge construction inspection experience.
• OR Four (4) years minimum of highway or bridge construction or highway or bridge design experience and successful completion of the twelve (12) web-based TCI training modules.
• OR Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other approved Engineering discipline; or holds an active Professional Engineer’s License.
