Unit 776 - Hammond - Striping Unit

The primary function of this position is to serve as a Highway Foreman 2 for the District Striping Unit 776, this position reports directly to the District Traffic Operations Manager. The general duties of this position are to schedule and supervise the daily activities of the mobile equipment operators on the striping crew, which specializes in marking on all State and Federal highways, in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. Required to be on call 24 hours a day and must perform duties in all types of weather. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.
The incumbent is required to possess the following specialized knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as to maintain the following licensing and operate the following equipment:
Four years of experience in the construction, maintenance, or repair of roads, bridges, levees, drainage facilities, wharfs, buildings, or grounds; OR
Four years of experience in the operation or maintenance of electronically controlled locks or industrial or heavy mobile equipment.
