Job summary

Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

THE POSITION

Are you ready to tackle a career leading roadway crews and keeping Pennsylvania highways safe and well maintained? Join the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) as a Highway Foreman 2 and take charge of a wide range of roadway maintenance efforts. In this position, you will direct crews, oversee equipment use, and ensure repairs are completed accurately. Your decisions will help improve safety and keep essential routes in good condition.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supervises highway maintenance crews, oversees project planning, and ensures work is completed safely and correctly. Your efforts will support daily operations by coordinating staff, equipment, and worksite procedures. As a Highway Foreman 2, you will perform the following duties:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
    • Summer hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $54,162.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.
