Job summary

Artheon is seeking a Highway Engineer in Berlin, NJ with 5+ years of highway design and transportation engineering experience. You will contribute to roadway design, intersection improvements, and safety enhancements using CAD tools such as MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, EIT/PE in NJ preferred, and familiarity with NJTA, NJDOT, and AASHTO standards. Growth within a respected consulting firm is offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in highway design or transportation engineering.
  • EIT or PE license in New Jersey preferred (or ability to obtain).
  • Proficiency with CAD software for roadway design, especially MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads.

Responsibilities

  • Develop highway alignments, profiles, typical sections, and safety improvements per NJTA, NJDOT and AASHTO standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, and teams to achieve objectives within budget.
  • Assess safety improvements and plan traffic management during construction.
  • Ensure designs comply with regulatory standards of NJTA, NJDOT, and local agencies.
  • Prepare technical reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates per standards.

Artheon is seeking a highly motivated Highway Engineer to join our team in Berlin, NJ. The ideal candidate will have at over 5 years of industry experience in highway design and transportation engineering. The successful candidate should have experience with design and plan production using one or more of the following: AutoDesk Civil3D, Bentley MicroStation, and Bentley OpenRoads Designer or Bentley InRoads.

As a Highway Engineer, you will work on a variety of transportation infrastructure projects, including roadway design, intersection improvements, and safety enhancements. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful projects and grow within a well-established consulting firm.

Responsibilities
  • Highway and Roadway Design: Develop highway alignments and profiles, typical sections, cross-sections, and safety improvements including guide rail and median barrier design in accordance with NJTA, NJDOT and AASHTO standards.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and within budget.
  • Safety Improvements and Maintenance and Protection of Traffic: Evaluate existing roadways for safety improvements, including existing signage and striping. Develop the MPT needs for construction projects to manage traffic flow safely during construction, including barrier placement, construction signage, and temporary striping.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs comply with NJTA, NJDOT, AASHTO, and local transportation agency regulations.
  • Plan Development and Software Utilization: Prepare technical reports, plans using CAD software, with preference for MicroStation, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with NJTA and NJDOT standards.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of industry experience in highway design or transportation engineering.
  • Certification/License: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in New Jersey preferred (or ability to obtain in the near future).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MicroStation InRoads or OpenRoads (preferred) or other CAD software for roadway design.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with NJTA, NJDOT, and AASHTO design standards and guidelines.
