Role Summary

We are seeking a Highway/Roads Engineer to serve in a lead technical role under a Project Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects.
• Oversee CAD Designers and EITs.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects.
• Participate in site feasibility analysis through final design and construction phases.
• Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design.
• Experience with corridor modeling, grading, and drafting plansheets in Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Experience on Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities projects.
• Familiarity with reading and modifying project specifications and special provisions.

Required Qualifications

• Professional engineering license recognized in the location of the position offered.
• Hands‑on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation, Open Roads Designer, Autodesk Infraworks, and Civil 3D.
• MS Office knowledge.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Experience with urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, concept alignments, geometric layout, and CAD base alignment plans.
• Commitment to being an active participant of HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
